Abd Al Malik
Bon in Paris on March 14th 1975, this engaged poet literally exploded onto the French music scene with his 2006 CD Gibraltar. Treading the narrow line between rap and slam, Malik was acclaimed for his decision to incorporate music influences from Africa, jazz, classic piano and traditional French ballads. The Congolese parents of this soft-spoken Sufi follower witness the crossing of a new threshold in his career with his live performance at the mythical Olympia concert hall on October 2nd.
